| Likely Lads Me and my best mate Brian were a couple of likely lads The things that we got up to,got our ears clipped by our Dads Saturday morning we would go to the matinee at the Ritz For the both of us to get in cost just a couple of threepenny bits Brian would queue and pay the fee, there was always such a din He,d go to the toilets, open the door and I would walk right in When the matinee was over,we,d go shopping for some sweets While I kept the shopkeeper talking,Brian filled his pockets with treats We,d jump on a bus without paying, and be home in the blink of an eye Then call into Brian,s at teatime, his Mum made a lovely steak pie Our Mums always said we,d been very well behaved So they,d take us on a train ride with some money they had saved. bobart
Inflation So why is inflation getting higher? All the balloons at Christmas, too much air in the tyre? A packet of wholemeal bread buns, have gone up twenty five percent For a house that you don,t own, you,ll break the bank to pay the rent I got two hundred miles on twenty pounds of gas, without much trouble My visits to the service station now,are nearly double A year of fags for those who stink...sorry smoke Will cost similar to a mortgage, that,s no joke Oh yes there,s another thing that,s going up,that,s the number of immigrants over here So freeze the pensions and the wages, they,ll be looked after, have no fear bobart
Be My Valentine
When the heavenly stars come out tonight None of them will glow as bright As your beautiful, adorable, blue eyes Once the moon rises above It will personify my love That always lingers on and never dies And as the morning sun does shine I hope you,ll be My Valentine Please respond to my emotions and my sighs bobart
FEBRUARY...VALENTINE Desirable and beautiful,is precisely what you are So bright and delightful, my favourite sparkling star When my eyes are gazing at you,you brighten up my day A smile from your inviting lips, brushes all my blues away The touch of your soft hand, caresses my pulsating heart But my heart, it would be broken, if we should ever part The sound of your sweet voice is heavenly divine So speak now and delight me, say you,ll be my Valentine bobart

| Oh Bobart!!! What a treat to read your poetry :sunny: .I loved the "down to earth" humour and nostalgia in your first one about you and your best mate Brian Ahhhhh Saturday morning "flicks" ice cream cartons flying all over, booing the indians, cheering the cowboys :laugh1: Three penny bits. Ahhh. Memories. I loved it Bobart. Your poem on inflation is such a good read.I love the irony running through it and it's all so true What a lovely contrast though with your Valentine poems. Delicate, sensitive and so romantic. Leila |
