Re: POETRY BY ADELE
“I am”
(A challenge set by Tiggee)
I am
The B side of a record, yet another has been
The person in a crowded room, but very rarely seen
The page in a book that’s often left unread
Left abandoned, for a more exciting page instead.
I am the last person in a queue, the one that’s left behind
I know you weren’t being, deliberately unkind
I was just the last thing on your mind
I am
The blown out candle, that makes others shine brighter
The one that carries the load, so theirs is made lighter
I am the footprint, which once walked across this land
Where once we were together, walking hand in hand
I am the last person in a queue, the one that’s left behind
I know you weren’t being, deliberately unkind
I was just the last thing on your mind
I am
The feisty salmon, that fights her way upstream
Fighting against the currant, lost in a bewildered dream
But no more my friend, will I run away and hide
I have finally decided, to fight against the tide
And to all those out there, who couldn’t give a damn
I think…
So therefore I AM!
TRAVELLING LIGHT
With all his worldly possessions
Filling two plastic carrier bags
He had matted hair, worn out
shoes
And clothes that were now mere
rags
This worldly weather-beaten face
Walks on through cold and heat
Only stopping intermittingly
To rest his aching feet
He sets off again on his journey
Where to is a complete mystery
Going where destiny takes him
Under earths cloudly. canopy
Did something happen to him?
That he could not possibly mend
Was there no one to help?
Not even a special friend?
When his journey has ended
And he lay's him down to sleep
Will anybody miss him?
Will anybody weep?
Will he leave any traces?
Will his spirit have left it's mark?
Will he be burnt in someone's
memory?
Will there be the slightest spark?
Will he join the spectral figures?
That still walk the land
Will he finally have found his
place?
Amongst the shadowy band
Will they be welcoming?
And let this stranger in
Among all the other souls
Till he finds his kith and kin
He leaves nothing behind him
As his soul fly's into the night
Only two nondescript plastic
bags
Because he was travelling light.

‘im indoors
Well I likes a bit o’ poetry
It fair suits me down’t ‘t ground
There’s uther folks that’s like me
Of that I’ll be bound
Wi’ poetry I’m fair t’ middlin
Other folks are better than me
They can mak it rhyme ‘n wotnot
Write pose ‘n verse that’s free
Plucked up courage ‘n joined a forum
It were all St Maggies idea
Sum poets cum from America
An’ a bloomin load from over ‘ere
Other poets cum from Ireland
Wi’ Celtic ‘eratage shining through
Their words flowin like a stream
T’ entertain me an’ you
Now I gots to admit I’m addicted
Spendin an ‘our, or two, or three
Readin’ other folks poems
Like I ses, their better than me
But then I got t’ thinking
Am I neglectin ‘im indoors
Spendin loads o’ time on’t computer
Then avin t’ catch oop wi’ me chores
Right… I’m makin’ time for me an’ ‘im
I’m battenin’ down th’ ‘atch
But “Eh lass go on computer” ‘e ses
Cos I’m watchin’ football match!!!

Thank you my friend for the encouragment. Glad 'im indoors' made you laugh. As for 'Travelling light' where will any one of us be in the future? Enjoy today, it's the only time that matters. Whoops... I've just fell off my soap box.
