NIGHT VISION by Mike ~ The stars came down on us that night creating a low ceiling, We tasted mists of morning reeling through the pines. A spark from some untended pyre burned truly in the middle air. Once stoked finely by the host of human tread, It bled, refined into a rapier before our eyes. We strained to grasp the pattern of its flight But lost our vision to the fading night. Written by Mike.......

NO VALENTINE CARD FOR ME[
On 14th February ever since I was fifteen
I used to stand in front of the mirror and preen.
I’d stand by the letterbox in anticipation
I’d show the boys that I was pretty and keen

Oh joy a card came through the door
My mum beat me to pick it up off the floor
I took it up into my room, the only one I ever had.
I held it to my chest, the card was covered with kisses galore.

The years went by and I met my love
I knew I was his turtle dove
But he would never send me a Valentine’s card
I even prayed he would send one as proof of his love

Did he not love me or was he just mean?
Never a Valentine card to be seen.
I did receive a big one a few years ago
My love said that I must have sent it myself, oh woe that was so!

My love told me words of love were not needed
Oh if only his words of wisdom I had heeded.
He said he did not need to voice his love
“Please send me a Valentines day card” I still pleaded.

I never did receive that longed for Valentine card
And sometimes that would hurt me real hard
Then as he lay dying in his hospital bed
I realised I had always had my longed for Valentine card

His eyes they shone; he smiled, reached out and held my hand
His dying words “I love you, always loved you, please understand
Every day had been Valentine’s day for both of us; I was too blind to see it
My Valentine Card, the token of our love? his and my precious gold Wedding band

:heart :heart :rose :rose

This was an excellent poem Gypsy, Although I did recieve Valentine cards from my husband
I'd rather have him by my side than all the cards.
Take care.

Thank you so much Rose I used to get quite upset and cross with him because he would not send a card I call ed him mean and all the names under the sun :sunny: but he would not budge. Said it did not need a card to say he loved me. As he got older he did become more romanticin his way. As you say I had him most of my life, and that is far better than any card.

But...........................

Hi Gypsy..it,s pure coincidence I stumbled across your Valentine poem today.Brought a little lump to my throat as I read it.Like your poem says,no card is required to tell someone how you feel.Have a good day.

Another heartbreaking read Gypsy....Hubby never buys me a card or flowers,he says it's all a big con ..Perhaps it is but it would be nice once in a while, hey ho....
Did you want me to put this gem into the comp.,let me know and I'll move it in there for you....It certainly belongs there!

It surely is the person not the card that counts I always feel that I do not require any thing other than telling my wife that I love her on a daily basis usually more than once and that after fifty two years a card would be superflous
No I am not being a mean old Scot
Still I loved the poem
Good luck in tne Comp
