If Only, My molly

If only, you were near me close enough to touch
I'd be there in a moment celebrating all my luck,
of the times we shared with laughter in our hearts
giving everything I had to see you smile a lot,

If only, you had more time to spend before you left
what a different time we'd have living life the best,
with all the silly things around collecting as you did
each item was so different especially that awful wig,

If only, the days were longer together we would be
giving each other a smile especially the ones for me,
you were just so special and such a thrill to see
carrying all those toys around dropping all but three,

If only the times we shared were happy everyday
I'd wish for just one more day to watch and see you play,
but for now your safe and carefree all the time
jumping in the heavens barking which is fine,

If only, you were with me now as I close my eyes
wishing for some sleep I want you know I try,
but the nights are lonely and your so far away
so for now my Molly I need kneel and pray.

Hi Ladybug, found your poem intensley emotional. You must obviously have gone through an immensly emotional time before writing this, which I, fortunatately, have not had to experience (though my eldest daughter's partner of 20 years, a wonderful guy, died a few days ago and I am grieving greatly at the moment).

Oh my dear Ladybug

What a tear jerker this is. It brought a lump to my throat. I thought at first it was a child and then i realised it was a pet. This is just beautiful and good luck in the competition.
